Indonesia-China Ties Continue to Improve
Indonesia and China have continuously increased their bilateral cooperation based on a strategic partnership agreement in the political, economic, social and cultural fields signed in 2005,
Indonesia's Deputy Chief of Mission Mohammad Oemar said. "Bilateral cooperation in various fields have continued to increase since both countries restored diplomatic ties in 1990 and signed a strategic partnership agreement in April, 2005," he said.
Genco Takes Delivery of Vessel
Genco Shipping & Trading Limited announced that it has taken delivery of the Genco Cavalier, a 2007-built Supramax vessel. The Genco Cavalier is the second vessel to be delivered to the Company under Genco's agreements previously announced on May 12, 2008 to acquire three drybulk vessels from Bocimar International N.V. and Delphis N.V.

OOCL Renews US Customs Security Qualification
On July 2, OOCL passed revalidation for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT), and gained a renewal of its certificate. The C-TPAT revalidation process involved rigid inspections and visits from CBP officers to OOCL’s Pusan office, terminals and vessel inspections on board the OOCL China.
STX Swoops in To Buy Aker Yards
South Korea’s STX Corp. has made a mandatory offer for all the issued shares in Aker Yards ASA of NOK 63 per share after increasing its shareholding in the Norwegian shipyard above 40 percent. Aker said its board of directors were not advised of the details of the bid prior to the offering to the market and other shareholders. In response Aker said it would review the offer.
Agility, TNT, UPS Join UN Effort
The introduction of the first United Nations (UN) partnership initiative has enabled some of the world's top logistics and transportation companies to support efforts to distribute food and other critical relief supplies to victims of the recent cyclone in Burma (Myanmar). Logistics Emergency Teams (LETs) comprising experts from Agility, TNT and UPS have been supporting the World Food Programme's "Global Logistics Cluster" supply chain efforts both on the ground in Rangoon (Yangon), and at the staging area at Bangkok's Don Muang airport.
New Feeder Service Launched
Da Chan Bay Terminal One in Shenzhen has welcomed the launch of a direct feeder service to and from Hong Kong, following the inaugural arrival at the terminal of the Yue Hui Hai 118 from Hong Kong. The ship loaded with imported equipment is operated by Ever Harvest Shipping Limited & Xiamen Harvest Shipping Limited.
Kenya Airways To Get New Planes
Kenya Airways said on it expected to take delivery of a third Embraer 170 Long Range plane in August to boost its expansion into African routes. The new Embraer is the first of four aircraft the carrier expects this year. The others are three previously announced new 737-800s from Boeing, the first of which is also due in August, the airline said in a statement.
Scandinavian Budget Airlines Sign Cooperation Deal
Scandinavia's two biggest budget airlines, Norwegian Air Shuttle and Danish-based Sterling Airlines have signed a "strategic cooperation" agreement on a number of routes, Norwegian Air said. The two low-cost rivals to Scandinavian airline SAS will cooperate on the Oslo-Copenhagen and Stockholm-Copenhagen routes from September 15.From the end of October the cooperation will be extended to a number of international destinations from Oslo and Stockholm.
China's Harbin To Produce Aircraft Parts with Airbus
One of China's leading aircraft manufacturers signed a framework contract with Airbus to jointly produce aircraft composite material parts and components. Harbin Aircraft Industry Group Company Limited agreed with the European aircraft manufacturer to form a joint venture manufacturing Center in Harbin at the on-going week-long Farnborough Airshow.
